Painting has been a lifelong journey for Ruth Newquist. Inspired by a childhood love of art, she attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, earning a BFA degree while studying with such great painters as Ranulph Bye, Reginald Marsh and Frank Reilly. She later attended the Art Students League in New York City.
Ruth is known for her New York SoHo cityscapes as well as New England rural and urban landscapes. She paints in both oil and watercolor. Ruth is a signature artist member of the National Watercolor Society and an elected artist member of Allied Artist of America and the Salmagundi Club in NYC, the North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, MA and the Connecticut Watercolor Society.
Ruth has won numerous awards in national competitions and was featured on the “Watercolor Pages” in American Artist Magazine June 1999. She is also represented in Best of Watercolor III, a hard cover book published by Rockport Publishers in 1999 and Splash 9 Secrets of Watercolor published by F&W publications Inc. in 2006 and will be represented in Splash 12: Celebrating Artistic Vision.
Ruth works out of her studio in Newtown, Connecticut and exhibits her paintings through New England and New York.
